Courses & workshops
The focus of the courses is based on the much-ignored fact that Object Theatre or Puppetry is theatre first and foremost. As such it obeys the natural laws of this art: rhythm, situation, character, etc. So we intend to approach object manipulation from the perspective of the actor’s job, and with the help of that marvellous pedagogical tool which is the mask.
Thanks to our personal experience and our training at the Jacques Lecoq school, we have created, with the collaboration of Maria Rêgo Barros (Maria Rêgo Barros (Brazilian
Sculptor and Puppeteer), several masks of different types to make a pedagogy of Object Theatre which is accessible to everyone who wishes to understand, practise, direct or simply get to know this type of theatre.
The course can last from 3 to 10 days and is aimed at actors, puppeteers and workshop leaders, professional or otherwise, as long as they are prepared to work with or without puppets.
In the workshops for schools, universities, etc., the Tàbola Rassa Theatre Company explains and demonstrates, in a masterclass of 1hr 30mins, the nature of the Object Theatre we practise. With the help of masks, some objects and simple exercises, we can enter into the details of creation, the work of adaptation and Molière’s theatre works.
