The Company

The Tàbola Rassa Theatre Company was born out of a collaboration between Oliver Benoit and Miquel Gallardo when, together with Jordi Betran, they created a production of Molière’s ‘The Miser’.  After the debut of the Catalan version in November 2000, the work was also adapted by the pair into Spanish (May 2001), French (July 2001) and into English by Oliver Benoit and Asier Saenz de Ugarte with the help of translator Tom Godwin (October 2007).

In August 2004, Oliver Benoit took over as director of Tàbola Rassa and trained two new members: the French actor Jean-Baptiste Fontanarosa, to replace Miquel Gallardo in the French version, and the Basque actor Asier Saenz de Ugarte, for the Castilian, Catalan and English versions.

Jorge Garcia, Technical Director; and Sadock Mouelhi, French Technical Assistant, complete the team.

Since its creation, having visited more than 15 countries, and with warm responses from both audiences and critics, the company has gained considerable recognition, and as a result they are still much in demand to give performances of ‘The Miser’, hold courses, classes and participate in conferences.

Not forgetting the contribution and help of our indispensable collaborators: Delphine Lancelle, Maria Rêgo Barros, Sara Sánchez, Valérie Vidal, Susanna Giménez Bou, Adyo Pueyo, Alain Bazynsky, Julio Michel, Toni Albà Theatre Company, Pupella-Nogués Theatre Company and La Cònica Lacònica Theatre Company).

On October 1, 2009 they presented the new spectacle, Jean de La Fontaine's Fables, in Ostrava's International Festival (Czech Republic), with very good reception.
